Aracaju, against the odds, is a good place to live and also to visit. The town is small if compared to other capitals, only 570 thousand habitants.
It's listed as the capital with the lowest inequality index in the Northeast and the healthier lifestyle of Brazil.
For those who like Forró (our most famous music rhythm), it's good to visit the city in the middle of year (June/July). Sometimes, the government tries to sell our state as "Country of Forró" and seems to be working, because a lot of very good and different bands are selected to free shows. Talking about free shows, in our city there are a lot of them. In January we have our previous carnival known as Pre-caju. The Verão Sergipe, Projeto Verão, really, there are a lot of them... and each one have different music styles: Axé, Pagode, MPB, Rock, etc.
But for those people who visit Aracaju in different time of year, variation of attractiveness is not that big. You can only listen Axé and Forró, even in eletronic clubs. You can find some places with just eletronic music, rock, MPB but it's not popular. There are just few of them.
The beach is not the most beautiful, but it's better than other places because the water is warm and when you enter, you just want to stay there longer. In some parts it's excellent to surf. For those who prefer blue and calm beaches it's better run to others ones, which are out of Aracaju, but very near if you go by car like Praia do Saco, Caueira and some others.
If you want to bring your bike, the city is excellent. There are more than 70km of bike lane and you can visit almost the entire city only by bike. You can go to beach, to nightclubs, to center, federal university and many other districts.
There are also large and well maintained green parks where you can stay at afternoon with family and friends as Parque da Cidade - which has a mini zoo -, Parque dos Cajueiros and the most famous: Parque da Sementeira next to the two largest malls in the city (Riomar and Jardins). Unfortunately, Aracaju still don't have Hostels, for those who like traveling alone. But, there are a camping (Camping Aracaju) in front of beach. By the way, the most part of hotels are located nearby to our seacoast (Orla de Atalaia). Orla de Atalaia is one of the most beautiful seacoast in Brazil northeast region.
